Receiving A Confirmation - Step By Step

Networks can now supply Tango confirmations.   They will arrive as e-mail attachments.

Tango confirmations allow you to effortlessly cross check the spots being confirmed against the contents of a BCC Media Desktop schedule.  Find out what matches, what almost matches and what doesn't match with the press of a few buttons. No more manual checking necessary.

So far we've concentrated on the "comparison" function - does the spot list in the confirmation match what's in a BMD schedule and, if it doesn't, what's different.

We realise that there's more features to add, but we want to be guided by your feedback before going further.  Tell us what you think works, what needs improving and what needs to be added.

Step-By-Step

  1. Obtain Tango Attachment.  When you receive an e-mail from your Network Sales Rep, it will have the Tango Confirmation file attached, together with the usual PDF (or Excel worksheet, etc) providing the confirmation.  Save the Tango attachment to disk somewhere handy - it will have a '.tango' extension.

  2. Start Tango Toolbar.  Look for the Tango shortcut on your desktop or Citrix platform.  Look at the graphic in the top left of this page - the yellow swirly thing - the Tango shortcut icon looks similar.  When you find it, double click the shortcut to start Tango. You should see a four button toolbar.

  3. Open the "Reconcile Confirmation" Wizard by clicking on the third button in the toolbar - the one with the tooltip "Reconcile Confirmation". A Wizard Window titled "Reconciliation" will appear.
  4. Click the "From File" button.  Locate the file you created in step 1 - the confirmation file supplied by the Network.  Once the file is loaded, check the details which appear:  the source, the client, the product, etc.   If you have more than one file from the same network that you wish to combine, you can click the "From File" button again to load additional files. If you make a mistake or want to start again, press the Trash button to clear the files loaded.
  5. Click "Next".
  6. Back In BCC Media Desktop, Export Spot List From BCC Media Desktop into The Clipboard.  Open the BCC Media Desktop schedule containing the campaign to be confirmed and choose the "Export To MediaWise" menu item.  In the Dialog which appears, ensure the "To Clipboard" option is selected and that the "Include Only Bought Spots" box is ticked and that all necessary markets have been moved from the right list to the left.  Then press Ok and wait till BMD says the operation is complete.  At this point you have exported your spot list to the clipboard.
  7. Back In The Tango Wizard, Click the "From Clipboard" button.  This will load the schedule just exported from BCC Media Desktop. Check the details displayed: the client, the product, etc.  You can load additional schedules by repeating the BCC Media Desktop export (step 6) and in the Tango Wizard clicking again on the "From Clipboard" button.  If you want to clear the loaded schedules and start again, press to the Trash button.
  8. Click "Next".
  9. Select the matching options you require. If you need the spots to match exactly, deselect the two tick boxes. If you are happy for matching to be a little more liberal then select either or both of the options. Selecting these options does not change any of the spot values. It is simply used when comparing an agency spot to a network spot and deciding whether the two match.
  10. Click "Next".
  11. Review Match Summary Screen. You will be shown either a message to indicate that all spots have been matched or a summary of differences.  To see detailed differences, click the "Show Differences" button.
  12. In the Reconciliation screen which appears, be sure to click on the rows shown in of the "In BMD" and "From Network" tables.  When you do, Tango will highlight the rows in the other section which are similar.  Differences between similar rows will be highlighted in red.  This should greatly help you to understand what's happened.  If you have difficulty determining the cause of the differences, you can filter what is displayed by clicking the Filter button.  The filter will allow you to display a subset of the spots by selecting only the weeks, markets and spots durations you wish to be displayed..  If you make changes to one of your loaded BCC Media Desktop schedules this can be reloaded by repeating the BCC Media Desktop export to Clipboard as described above then press the Reload button.

What Gets Matched

When matching your BCC spots with the Network's confirmed spots, Tango takes into account:
  • Dates:  day mask and W/C
  • Times:  start and end times
  • rate
Tango does not take into account:
  • program name
  • tarps
Often program name and tarps are not supplied in a Network confirmation.
